Cool things to do in Mission?
So... I'm about to pack up my Kits girl roots and move to... Mission. I'm still in shock, I think.

Help me out... what's cool to do in and around the Mission area? Abbotsford is also okay. Live music? Cool coffee shops? Art galleries or museums? Am I totally in denial that these things might exist out that way?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a GREAT vet? Nothin' but the best for my baby...

Painting classes
Hi all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for painting classes in Abbotsford?

Preferably water colour, preferably during the day.

Where the hell do people buy toys around here?!? (I'm in Abbotsford.)

I'm looking for some Play-doh for my niece who lives in Guam, and having far more difficulty than i would have imagined.

Is there nothing comparable to a Toys 'R' Us in this town? (country?)

I know the Toys 'R' Us in Bellingham just went out of business, but they had competition from the Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer, Target, etc.

(I went to the Wal-Mart here, my best bet as far as i know, and they carry Play-doh but were mysteriously sold out of most items. Perhaps my real problem is this global 'Doh shortage.)

But seriously, where else should i look?

ok, i have a chance to get a table at a kids show.
its for people to learn about new products and do lots of fun things, there are going to be performers there ect.

i was thinking of setting up a table and selling a craft for kids to do there. Making foam visors.
I would give them the visor, and 5 - 8 foam shapes to put on it. i would have markers there so we could add names or words on it.
here are some pictures of one i made today with the girls i nanny. this one has my name in foam letters though...

i am thinking of charging 4-5$ CAD for this, including everything... what do you think???

So what are some good restaurants (aside from the same old red robin, milestones, olive garden, etc)

good breakfast.
Good sushi (incl. all you can eat).
good dinner restaurants.

good italian
and anything else you can give me.

Talk about convenient...
I took the bus to 272 and Fraser to pick up the groceries at Extra Foods, intending to catch the next bus back to my place.

Convience: The bus stayed at the stop for nearly half an hour...enough time for me to finish my shopping and get home within an hour or so.

Man, I love living out here.

Now...back to my tub of yummy cottage cheez!!

Current Mood: chipper

Welcome to Alder...Langley?
Good lordy, I live in the black hole of town: just where the hell do I live? Aldergrove or Langley? The debate will rage on forever, much like the classic "SCHOOLBUSSES: ORANGE OR YELLOW" debate.

I live about four blocks from the Otter Co-Op, which is decidedly Aldergrove. I catch the Aldergrove bus to go home from work. My co-workers, when I tell them where I live, say "Oh, so you live in Aldergrove". Yet, when I get mail, it says that I live in Langley.

For some reason, Aldergrove is cooler than Langley. It's easier to get around, and the people are nicer. So, I guess I'll be an Aldergrovian.

Where is the ALdergrove/Langley border anyhow? Do I straddle it like my political and religious beliefs? Bah...too much philosophy, too early in the morning. :-D

Anyhow, greetings and salutations; my name is Oliver. I've been in Langleygrove or Alderlangley since the beginning of January. Prior to moving here, I was in Burnaby for a few months...and prior to that, I was in Southern Ontario.

But yeah...I like it out here. It's nice. It's quiet. The transit system really blows, but what can anyone do about it? I guess this is one community where owning wheels (whether they're of the two, leg propelled variety), or four (that which drink gas like I drink coffee) variety. Or, for those so compelled, the four wheeled-attached-to-wooden-board variety.

So far, I've found great grocery stores: I'll either hit up the co-op, the Save-On Foods, or the Extra Foods for my admittedly terrible eating habits. I love the Liquidation World in town, as well...but all I need to do is find a decent karaoke place, and I'm set.

SO...let's have some fun!

Yesterday I had an interview with a reporter, and today the article was published in my local newspaper. The article is in recognition of self-injury awareness day, but it also covers eating disorders. It may be triggering, and though the original article contained mention of pounds, I switched it to dress sizes. I'm very proud :)

The article.Collapse )

This community needs some serious advertising! I think it's a great idea to be in contact with others in the Fraser Valley, but it'll only work if people join. Everyone, go spread the word!

missing cat!

I know this is a long shot.

My cat has been staying with my in-laws out in Aldergrove. I was informed yesterday that she has now not been seen for almost a MONTH!

We just got into a place where we can have her back with us, and now she is missing.

Her name is Sushi, she is about 5 or 6 years old. She does have a tatto in her ear, but when i called the SPCA hospital where she has had all of her procedures done, they don’t have it on record!!!!

Reward Offered! No questions asked.

I have contacted Langley Animal Services, The Abbotsford Pound, All the local vets, and i am heading out there this weekend to post missing posters.

Please Help me bring my Dear kitty home!

any info, call 778-241-3505
